Diffuse Beam : Coherent Backscattering and Localization
On the basis of reciprocity, interference between two opposite paths ean be argued to be constructive in the backscattering direction of, for instance, a slab geometry, and exactly as large as the conventional diffuse background calculated from (1.8). At backscattering, the equation of radiative transfer is thus 100 % wrong! As always, the width of an interference effect is roughly given by the...
متن کاملCoherent Backscattering and Anderson Localization of Light
In this review we discuss localization of waves by multiple scattering. In the weak case, also known as coherent backscattering, there is a twofold enhancement of the reflected intensity in the back direction. We discuss the origin of this effect, its shape with reflection angle as well as the influence of finite sample size and absorption on this shape. This discussion of the properties of the...

متن کاملOn self-attracting random walks
In this survey paper we mainly discuss the results contained in two of our recent articles [2] and [5]. Let {Xt}t≥0 be a continuous-time, symmetric, nearest-neighbour random walk on Zd. For every T > 0 we define the transformed path measure dP̂T = (1/ZT ) exp(HT ) dP, where P is the original one and ZT is the appropriate normalizing constant. The Hamiltonian HT imparts the self-attracting intera...
متن کاملNotes on coherent backscattering from a random potential
We consider the quantum scattering from a random potential of strength λ and with a support on the scale of the mean free path, which is of order λ. On the basis of maximally crossed diagrams we provide a concise formula for the backscattering rate in terms of the Green’s function for the kinetic Boltzmann equation. We briefly discuss the extension to wave scattering.
